I’m Dr. Mari Selva Ganesh, currently pursuing my MD in Emergency Medicine at JIPMER, Puducherry.
I was in your position not too long ago — trying to figure out what specialty to choose, what residency would actually be like, and whether Emergency Medicine was something I could see myself doing for the next several years.
Over the past few years at JIPMER, I’ve had the opportunity to work in one of the busiest and most challenging clinical environments, seeing everything from trauma and medical emergencies to toxicology, cardiac arrests and critically ill patients.
Today, I’m not here to give you a textbook introduction to Emergency Medicine. I want to give you a more realistic picture of what life in JIPMER is like, what Emergency Medicine actually involves, and what you can expect if you choose this path after MBBS.
Hopefully, by the end of this session, you’ll have a better idea of whether Emergency Medicine — and JIPMER — could be the right fit for you.
